It’s not just super you may have lost
What if I don’t have lost or unclaimed super with AUSfund?
If you don’t have lost or unclaimed super with AUSfund, you should also check if you have lost super recorded on the Lost Member Register held by the Australian Taxation Office. Click here to go to the ATO’s SuperSeeker search site.
If I don’t find anything, is that it?
AUSfund receives hundreds of new accounts everyday! Remember to come back every now and again to do another search.
In the same way you can lose super, it’s possible that you may have left behind money in banks and other financial institutions. Try these searches and other information sources to track down any other monies you may have lost track of.
Australian Securities and Investment Commission (ASIC) website
You can search ASIC’s database for money that has been classified as unclaimed from financial institutions and companies. These include banks, credit unions, life insurance policies, money from the compulsory acquisition of shares resulting from takeovers and other sources.
ASIC’s website address is: www.fido.asic.gov.au
Unclaimed Monies in each State and Territory
Unclaimed superannuation is generally transferred to the Unclaimed Money Register after a lost member has died, or has met another legislative condition of release. For further information regarding unclaimed super visit the Australian Taxation Office Unclaimed super website by clicking here.
If you have already reached the eligibility age or are administering a deceased estate, or you simply want to check if there is any unclaimed money belonging to you, you should check the Unclaimed Money Register relevant to each State or Territory.
Note; from 1 July 2007, private sector superannuation funds are required to report and pay their unclaimed super - for the half-year ending 30 June 2007 and later half-years - to the Tax Office rather than to their relevant State or Territory authority.
TIP >>> A company must send unclaimed monies to the State or Territory they are located in. This may be different to the State or Territory you live in. If you have the time, check all of the registers listed below.
